With the final Act commencing in Australia in just over a month’s time, we take a look at what the SAP Sailing Analytics have to say about the cream of the crop from Act 7, Lisbon, which offered up champagne sailing conditions for the fleet of nine GC32s.

In third place was Austrian team Red Bull Sailing Team who, in a nail-biting finale in the Portuguese venue, knocked Oman Air off the podium for the first time this season with a 15 second lead in the final race. Skippered by double Olympic gold-medallist, Roman Hagara, the team reached a top speed of 30.8 knots.

In a perfect demonstration of their prowess, French team Norauto, who entered Lisbon as a brand new wildcard team for the Act, took the first runner up spot with an incredibly impressive performance for a first time Extreme Sailing Series™ team. Norauto, skippered by match racing ace Adam Minoprio, proved to be strong starters with the best average rank at the first mark out of the three podium teams, securing a top speed of 34.4 knots.

Topping the scoreboard though, for the third consecutive Act, were Swiss team Alinghi, skippered by Arnaud Psarofaghis. With a top speed of 35.5 knots, the highest speed recorded by SAP Sailing Analytics in the history of the Series, Alinghi also saw the greatest average rank gain from the first mark to the finish.

With such small margins being the difference between such valuable places on the Act leaderboards, the double-points final Act, taking place in Sydney from 8-11 December, will see the teams fight to the finish to be crowned the first champion of the Extreme Sailing Series™ hydro-foiling GC32 era.
