Making its debut at one of the world’s largest marine festivals this weekend, the Land Rover Extreme 40 joined the line up along side majestic tall ships and luxury cruise vessels for the 826th Hamburg Port Anniversary (8–10 May).

In what was the first time an Extreme 40 has ever sailed on the River Elbe, the Land Rover Extreme 40 treated over a million spectators to a sneak preview of what they can expect in July, when the original global Stadium Racing Series, the Extreme Sailing Series™, takes over HafenCity and the eight elite international Extreme 40 teams, including Olympians, World Champions and America’s Cup superstars, battle it out in short, sharp city-centre races to be crowned Act 5, Hamburg presented by Land Rover champions on 26 July.

Leading the crew on-board the Land Rover Extreme 40 for the Port Anniversary Grand Arrival and Departure parades, German Olympic sailing legend Roland Gaebler was joined by six-time Tornado world champion and Roland’s wife Nahid Gaebler, Extreme 40 sailor Jordi Booth and multiple world champion Dutch sailor Gerard Loos.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity to showcase the Extreme 40s in Hamburg,” explained Roland Gaebler from the water. “There are so many spectators watching from the shore and such a party atmosphere, the City of Hamburg has never seen a multihull like this.”

Hamburg will make its debut as Host Venue for Act 5 of the Extreme Sailing Series eight venue global tour.
