OMEGA’s role as Official Timekeeper to the Extreme Sailing Series is another exciting chapter in the Swiss prestige watchmaker’s proud nautical history. The OMEGA Marine Chronometer wristwatch earned its place in the record books when it helped French sailing legend Eric Tabarly to victories in the OSTAR east-west transatlantic race in 1964 and again in 1976.
OMEGA remained closely associated with sailing as Official Timekeeper of the America’s Cup 2000 and 2003 and its partnership with Emirates Team New Zealand. OMEGA has also long been the preferred choice of some of sailing’s greatest names, including the late Sir Peter Blake, Dame Ellen MacArthur and Dean Barker. The OMEGA Seamaster remains a popular choice among sailors in need of a highly precise, robust and reliable timepiece.
In the wider world of sport OMEGA has been the Official Timekeeper to the Olympic Games since 1932, and through numerous partnership agreements at the top level of competition in various other sporting disciplines such as golf, athletics, swimming and bobsleigh. For many years, OMEGA has actively supported the ideal of perfection and precision, personified by its sports ambassadors such as Michael Phelps.
