Pol Roger

Pol Roger is one of the few remaining great family-owned Champagne houses. Founded in 1849, the company celebrated its 150th anniversary in 1999 and marked this milestone with the start of a major investment programme at their Epernay cellars, including a state-of-the-art extension to the fermentation cellar.

With stocks of 7.5 million bottles representing some five years’ supply, Pol Roger remains one of the smaller of the great Champagne houses and uncompromising in its refusal to release wines on to the market until they are fully mature.

The company owns some 88 hectares of vineyards on prime sites in the Vallée d’Epernay and on the Côte des Blancs, drawing the remainder of its supplies from a further 84 hectares contracted by individual growers, many of whom have supplied Pol Roger for generations.

Extending to seven kilometers in the chalk below the Avenue de Champagne, the Pol Roger cellars are among the deepest and coolest in the region: hence the exquisite mousse which distinguishes all the company’s Champagnes.
