About the Sponsor
Alinghi is famous as the first European team ever to win the America's Cup and then to successfully defend it. As a professional sports team, Alinghi was created in 2000 by Ernesto Bertarelli in a bid to win the 31st America’s Cup in Auckland, New Zealand. In reality ‘Alinghi’ had existed long before this as the name of the Bertarelli families’ yachts, including the 1997 Bol d’Or winning trimaran.
About the Skipper
Swiss titan, Ernesto Bertarelli returns to Alinghi as the skipper and helm for his second year as the man in the driving seat of the Extreme 40. Bertarelli is no stranger to racing at the highest level in sailing having competed in the 31st, 32nd & 33rd America's Cups - winning two. A firm favourite in the D35 class, Bertarelli has plenty of multihull experience.
About the Team
The crew of America’s Cup veterans, Alinghi continue to push their Extreme 40 to the max in their fourth season of competition. With the addition of American Morgan Larson, who came second in the 2012 Series, the team have their eyes firmly fixed on this years Series podium.

Ernesto took over as skipper and helm for Alinghi in 2012 for his Extreme 40 racing debut. He is no stranger to racing at the highest level in sailing having competed in the 31st, 32nd & 33rd America’s Cup’s – winning two.

Previous Experience
Morgan has four America’s Cup campaigns under his belt as well as having won three Maxi World Championships. Runner up in 2012, Morgan will be making the transfer to Alinghi this Series, where he, along with his team-mates will be fighting for podium position.

Stuart will be making his Extreme 40 debut at Act 2, Singapore but brings a wealth of talent to the starting grid with one World, one European and seven National titles to his name.

Another America’s Cup sailor for the Alinghi crew with two European and one National title. Back for a second Series, Pierre Yves Jorand will be acting as Mainsail trimmer for the 2013 circuit.

A previous America’s Cup sailor with Alinghi in both 2003 and 2007, Nils Frei will be back for the 2013 Extreme Sailing Series for a third full season. Having finished 5th in 2011, and 7th in 2012, with Alinghi, Nils will be aiming to use his experience of the circuit to his favour for 2013.
