About the Sponsor

Alinghi is famous as the first European team ever to win the America's Cup and then to successfully defend it. As a professional sports team, Alinghi was created in 2000 by Ernesto Bertarelli in a bid to win the 31st America’s Cup in Auckland, New Zealand. In reality ‘Alinghi’ had existed long before this as the name of the Bertarelli families’ yachts, including the 1997 Bol d’Or winning trimaran.

About the Skipper

Ernesto Bertarelli returns to Alinghi as skipper and helm for his third year as the man in the driving seat of his Swiss Extreme 40. Bertarelli is no stranger to racing at the highest level in sailing having competed in the 31st, 32nd & 33rd America's Cups - winning two.

About the Team

2013 Extreme Sailing Series runners up Alinghi from Switzerland will be back in 2014 opting for the same crew including American Morgan Larson calling the tactics in a bid to go one better in 2014. The crew of America’s Cup veterans will be one to watch in their fifth season of competition.
