Act 4 - Istanbul, Turkey
Postponed. Dates TBC
Update regarding Act 4, Istanbul: After consultation with our partners in Istanbul, the decision has been taken to postpone Act 4, Istanbul, to give best support to Istanbul’s Olympic bid. The IOC will confirm the 2020 Olympic venue, Istanbul being one of the shortlisted cities, in September. Re-scheduled dates to follow.
The waters separating Asia and Europe will host Act 4 in the magnificent and cultural city of Istanbul, Turkey where the Extreme 40 fleet will race from the banks of Istanbul’s old town with the famous Blue Mosque providing an iconic backdrop.
The racing area is located at the intersection of the Mamara Sea and the Bosphorous – a busy shipping channel that in 2012 saw the Extreme Sailing Series stop traffic and race their carbon fibre speed machines on its magnificent waters.
Istanbul has consistent steady winds that in previous years has ensured some truly spectacular racing making this a firm favourite on the calendar amongst the Extreme 40 sailors.
