Swiss sailing legends Alinghi have today officially announced their entry into the 2018 Extreme Sailing Series™, marking their eighth season in the ultimate Stadium Racing championship.

Drawn by the world-class level of competition, the chance to continue improving their foiling skills, and the opportunity to reclaim the title they won in 2008, 2014 and 2016, Pierre-Yves Jorand, Alinghi’s team manager and coach, commented:“The Extreme Sailing Series is currently the best platform to hone our foiling skills. The level of competition is high and Alinghi will enter the 2018 season ready to battle for the overall title, having won it three times previously.”

This year, the Series will again see international teams racing on eight courses, including at the GC32 World Championship, across three continents.

Alinghi’s programme this year also will include D35 racing on Lake Geneva in the 15th edition of the D35 Trophy. After having come within a whisker of recording a grand slam in 2017, the team will give its everything to notch a seventh victory in the Championship. The one-design circuit, which combines competitiveness on the water with friendship among teams off it, enters its 15th season this year.

Not long now, then, till the start of the Extreme Sailing Series season in Muscat, Oman, 14-17 March.
