Team Extreme México (MEX)

Local wildcard entry Team Extreme México joins the fleet for the season finale in Los Cabos. Skippered by Mexican sailor Erik Brockmann, a national champion in the 49er, 420 and Optimist classes, the new entry is counting on the support of the home crowds to boost its performance. Brockmann sails alongside fellow Mexicans Armando Noriega Negrete and Danel Belausteguigoitia.

Chris Taylor, who has helmed at previous Acts on board Land Rover BAR Academy, will helm for the Mexican stage. Alex Higby, who competed on board Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing in its winning Volvo Ocean Race campaign, trims the mainsail while Tom Buggy, who has competed in the Extreme Sailing Series multiple times since 2011, trims the headsail.

2015 J70 World Champion, Brockmann will skipper the Mexican flagged wildcard team in Los Cabos. A national champion in the 49er, 420 and Optimist classes he is new to the Series but comes with a wealth of local sailing intelligence.

​Taylor, a 49er sailor, holds two World championship titles in the Feva (2008) and J111 (2014) classes. He has extensive experience on the water in the GC32 class having helmed for Land Rover BAR Academy throughout the 2016 and 2017 season as a triallist for the team. Taylor now helms for Team Extreme México in the final Act of the 2017 season.

Higby is new to the foiling GC32 but has previously sailed on board Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing in its victorious 2014-15 Volvo Ocean Race campaign.

No stranger to the circuit, British multihull sailor Tom Buggy has competed numerous times in the Series before. He now returns with Team Extreme México hoping his vast background in the Series will stand him in good stead.

​Hobie Cat whiz-kid Armando knows his multihulls. Combined with a knowledge of sailing in Mexican waters, Armando will be an indispensable asset in the final Act of the 2017 Series.

​The accomplished Mexican sailor boasts a second place finish in the 2017 Rolex Big Boat Series and second in the 2016 J70 World Championships. No doubt Fierro is looking to take first on home waters in the Extreme Sailing Series™.

​British Sailing Team Laser sailor, Evans has since changed paths, now an expert hand on a GC32. Evans was the UK Laser National Champion in 2015, 12th in the Laser European Championships in 2013 and the under 21 Laser World bronze medallist and European Silver medallist.
